Since 2019, DMoC has partnered with CPS Department of Arts Education to host an annual exhibition for students Pre-K through 12th grade. Over 300 works hang in the physical space each spring. Thousands more appear online.
The program affirms one premise: young artists' creativity belongs in museums. Applications open to students, teachers, parents, and entire school communities. A jury selects work. Pieces arrive, get installed, and fill the gallery. The companion website archives every piece submitted, creating a searchable permanent record organized by student, school, medium, and year.
To date, 10,328 students from 350+ schools across every Chicago neighborhood have been exhibited. What began as student artwork has expanded to include family and educator submissions. The program remains the museum's most inclusive annual exhibition and the fullest representation of creative voices across the city.
