Field Day was the Design Museum of Chicago’s (DMoC's) annual outdoor design festival at Navy Pier — free, public, and built around the idea that design belongs outside. Vendors, yoga, public art, and a commissioned flag exhibit brought thousands of Chicagoans to Polk Bros Park two summers running.
The brand carried the energy of the event: bold green, radiating lines inspired by the Centennial Wheel, type that felt like a sign you'd follow across a field. It ran across signage, banners, a-frames, print materials, and digital promotion. The same identity stretched across both years without going stale.
More than 100 flags were commissioned from artists and designers across the city. They flew at Navy Pier and later at the Taste of Chicago, extending the project's reach long after the event ended

Like these letters, buildings in Chicago make space for themselves. They don't sit quietly, instead rising like the city's own skyline, equally bold and compressed. The six-pointed star from our flag weaves through them, threaded into the architecture of the word itself. The city and its symbol are inseparable. This piece is alive to air, to light, to the people passing through
